Guestbook 2005

December 2005

As the year comes to an end, we toured Umbria in deep winter. A heavy snow storm came as we visit Assisi. The snow is still covering the hills + even the edges in the garden here.
The absolute high light of our visit was dinner in Bevagna at l’Orto degli Angeli. The gorgeous dining room in old Roman walls + vaulted ceilings was complemented gy the A(+) cooking. It was by far our best meal. (Just take the road to Pila and keep going to bevagna)
We braved the cold winter for long walks everywhere. I hope the next time we visit Italy will be in a milder season!
For us Americans staying in this very old house was an unusual experience. We did our best to tread lightly and allow history to continue to unfold in this enclave of suspended time and preserved heritage.

Debby and Mark - Tucson, Arizona

p.s. Orvieto is the best town; charming. Spoleto ugh, lots of construction and dirt. Spello is very nice! Spello is up-scale, immaculate, great wine shops.

Sept. 24th – Oct 8th 2005
Again a wonderful stay, for the second time in a few months, in this beautiful Villa Aureli (see also our notes os May 2005).
The lovely apartment and the garden, we really enjoyed it! This time of the year the swimming pool was an extra for us.
But most of all, every day being greeted by Wiskey and Cactus-Minime is really very special!!

Ed and Els

p.s. We will come back for the third time!
